Now that we’ve got that out of the way, I also want you to know what I see in each of you. I honestly believe the power to change things for the better lies within each of you. More than anything, this world needs people who are able to think for themselves, listen to others, and try to understand before reacting, especially if you don’t agree with what they are saying. I’ve probably said this a thousand times over the past four years, but it doesn’t necessarily matter to me what you believe, whether it’s political, religious, or anything else, but it absolutely matters to me that you know WHY you believe what you do. Simply put, I want you to be able to think for yourselves. If you couple this with hard work, persistence, and trust in others, there’s absolutely no limit to what you can accomplish.
Upward Bound is family; we have a common bond that will never be broken. We are always there for you, and you can trust that we will act in your best interests. While I may be nearly 2,000 miles away, I’m still proud to be a part of this family, and that will never change. You can always call me or email me, and I hope that you will.
Now, go make me proud, make something of yourselves, and when you’re super rich because of the things I taught you, don’t forget about me!
