Upward Bound had several exciting events this fall. One new event added to the schedule this fall was Saddle Bound. Upward Bound students traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they had the opportunity to learn about horses, what they eat, how to care for them, how to brush them, and even had a chance to ride them. Saddle Bound was an amazing experience, as most of the students had little-to-no experience with horses, and those who participated were very excited to learn about them and ride them. We also had a chance to try roping with a lasso. Some caught on pretty fast and others . . . well, let’s just say we all had some good laughs!
Upward Bound students also attended a number of other events, including the IRT play Three Musketeers, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Mozart and Haydn performance, Clowes Hall’s Vocalosity, and IRT’s play A Christmas Carol. These events offered our students opportunities to be exposed to new experiences and to gain an appreciation for the arts in a way they may never have been exposed to before.
