Winter is here! As we try to stay warm during the next couple of months, please take advantage of our exciting Upward Bound programming. The full calendar is on the Upward Bound website, however, there are three upcoming events that I would like to highlight.
SAT Bootcamp
During our first Academic Themed Saturday (ATS) of the year, students took a practice SAT. This test was professionally scored, and the results will be shared in upcoming advising sessions. Parents can get a copy at the parent meeting. Although this isn’t the most fun thing to do on a Saturday morning, we offer the test for two important reasons. The first is that the more exposure students have to the test, the more likely that their scores will improve. For that reason, we are offering a SAT Bootcamp on March 7 to focus on improving scores. Since juniors should take the SAT this year, attendance is mandatory for them. However, all students are welcome to attend. The second reason we offer the practice test is to help us tailor our classes to the academic needs of our students.
I Am Able Conference and College Signing Day
On April 25, we will hold our second annual I Am Able Mini-Conference along with College Signing Day! Like last year, we will invite guest speakers to facilitate engaging workshops and conclude the day with seniors declaring their commitment to a college of their choice. Along with this, there will be workshops for parents and guardians. Please mark your calendars to attend.
Upward Bound Turns 25!
Lastly, IUPUI Upward Bound will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year! Celebration planning is currently underway, and more information will be coming soon!
